“Mr. Carlisle giving quarters to us for dressing up on game days.”

— Debbie Fisher

“Running down the hill onto the football field in front of our Hometown crowd, cheering, screaming and feeling that adrenaline pumping before a Viking Victory.”

— Deon Bezzant

“I can’t hear Bananarama’s “Cruel Summer” without picturing Anissa in her baggy pink overalls, driving around in her old white car. The battery was a little finicky and corroded with powder, so every now and then she’d get out, pound on it with a wrench, and somehow that car would start. There was something about the scrappiness of a car that might or might not start, the heat of summer, and all that amazing new music of the ’80s that perfectly captured what it felt like to be a teenager back then. What a great time and place to grow up.”

— Sarah Cobabe Thomas

“Being a part of the wrestling team and taking state. Mr.Ash feeding his pet camen mice right after lunch and having my seat right by it(hated those rodents)”

— Sharlene Carter Loveless
